Crofton Community Association Refurbishment Update – 21st July 2009

I AM DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YOU ALL BACK !!!!!!!

I am pleased to report that we have now re-opened the refurbished wing and our groups will be settling back into their rooms during the next couple of weeks.

The wing re-opened today, 2 weeks ahead of schedule. However due to swifts nesting in the small roof area to the front of the building, the roof repair work to this small area has been delayed until the swifts fly their nest. We are constantly monitoring the situation and hopefully all the work will be complete by the end of August. However, this work will not affect the normal day to day activities of the many different groups that use this area of the Community Centre.

A brief resume of the refurbished works include:-
  • A new roof to make the wing watertight.
  • A new boiler and heating system throughout the wing.
  • New windows to the ground floor north elevation rooms.
  • Clearing of the some of the wall cavities.
  • Sound proofing between ground and first floor.
  • Lowered ceilings to the ground floor rooms with the latest lighting system incorporated within them.
  • New toilet facilities for the disabled.
  • New ground floor unisex toilet with baby changing facilities.
  • New first floor unisex toilet with baby changing facilities.
  • New boiler room.
  • New carpet to room 1.
  • New flooring to room 5.
  • Complete redecoration throughout.

Although the refurbishment project was funded by Fareham Borough Council, with a financial contribution from Crofton Community Association, the CCA have agreed to re-name this wing the ‘Hammond Wing’. This is in dedication to the Hammond family, well known throughout Stubbington and Hill Head, for their support to the local community for many, many years.

Once again, welcome back into the refurbished wing, and thank you for your patience over the last few months.

Nicky Rayner
CCA Centre Manager (21st July 2009)
