REFURBISHMENT 2009 of the old CCA wing
Now only just over 2 months to go
before the work starts on 1st March 2009 !
We held a meeting with our hirers of the old CCA wing at the end of September 2008. At this meeting everyone was given an individual letter with details of alternative accommodation (in most cases staying on site) during the refurbishment period.
I have now received replies and met personally with most of the hirers and am delighted with the general feedback I have received. Although being inconvenienced, our hirers do appreciate the long-term benefits that the refurbishment works will provide.
We have held many meetings with Fareham Borough Council (FBC), with detailed discussions taking place about the essential and desired works. Works will include, a new roof, new central heating boiler and complete replacement of the central heating system, new disabled toilet facilities, baby changing facilities, new boiler room, replacement of some of the ground floor windows, repairs/replace to brickwork and guttering, new fire doors, extension of the fire alarm system and complete redecoration of the wing. Very large Portacabins have been ordered and will be placed in the FBC Car Park for our CCA Old wing users to be able to continue with their groups/classes as normal.
Tender documents have been received and these will be going before FBC’s Executive Committee Meeting on 13th January 2009 for selection and final approval.
FBC and Crofton Community Association are working extremely hard to ensure this project runs as smoothly as possible with minimal disruption to our CCA wing hirers/users. Works will commence on 1st March 2009 and is due to be completed by 31st July 2009.
This refurbishment will ensure the life span of this important wing of our building. It will be more comfortable, warmer, inviting and brighter and the staff, committee and I look forward to showing you the refurbished wing at our opening ceremony in August.
Please note: This work will not effect any of our Crofton Hall or Sports Hall Hirers/Groups and their hire of a room/facilities will remain as per normal throughout the refurbishment of the old CCA wing.
If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to talk to me, a member of the CCA staff or Committee.
